About Us

Our Story

Southern Magnolia Event Planning is a dream come true for owner Jay Bullock. Originally for Biloxi, Mississippi, Jay attended Old Dominion University where she studied event planning, management, finance, and accounting. Jay’s love for organizing and planning lead her into event planning and coordinating for nonprofit’s development department early on in her career. Although she loved her job, she wanted to do something a little more personal.

While attending a friend’s wedding, Jay noticed that the event’s overall feel lack any real type of “southern hospitality”. Later, her friend would express how disappointed she was with her event planners.

“I really felt I could have done so much more if I had been in that position. Even more, I felt like I could have made the bride and groom, along with the guests, feel so much more.”

This led to the creation Southern Magnolia Event Planning in 2018.
